Exhaust pipe flange
Exhaust pipe flange
On my 2000 civic the pipe comeing off the ex. manifold has the flange where it bolts to the Cat. and the flange is rusting away pretty bad along witht he bolts holding it.The rest of the pipe is in great condition. Is there a way to just cut off the flange end and weld a new flange on it?I'm sure getting a new pipe from Honda would be salty!thanks
Re: Exhaust pipe flange
Yes. You can buy 2 bolt flanges , either SS or regular steel, and weld it on in the correct orientation replacing the rusted flange. Split flanges (2 piece) can work also. Easier to put a wanted post in and I am sure that they are lots of 96-2k D16Y8 exhaust down pipes avail from people who have done upgrade engine swaps. $20-40 should fetch one in good condition. Save a lot of time and energy. Just did the same for a 98 civic si about a week ago. A used OEM mint downpipe $25.
You can also buy a new aftermarket one $75 to $100 but the quality is somewhat lacking when compared to OEM.
Or, a replace SS header (like Airtech ) would be not much more expensive depending on the brand.
