Exhaust HELP!!!

Ok guys Im new here and need some help. I just bought a 98 civic ex and it has the ebay special coffee can exhaust on it. Header down to test pipe for a cat 2.25 piping back to a little resonator back to the coffee can. Without the silencer in the muffler it has a deep tone but very very loud. With the silencer its sounds like a pissed off roided lawn mower. I need to quiet this thing down cheaply.I want the deap tone but not so loud where i cant hear the radio lol. I have been doing research and I am seeing alot to do with resonators. My question is has anyone used the jones resonators? And will this help me untill I can afford to redo the whole exhaust.

Never used one. You could try a smaller muffler. I've got straight pipe to a smaller muffler (coffee can type) and it's loud but, not overly loud. Sounds a little raspy when cold.
