So i was checking out the Official Store of CivicForums.com and i came across this supercharger which sounds like a great deal for $89. It claims it can add up to 10 hp to the wheels on a 1997, 127 hp civic and save up to 28% on fuel.

Is this thing any good or is it all a load of crap? Can a supercharger really help improve mpg that much?
Also, is +10 hp noticeable power for a civic?
What do you guys think, waste of money or not?

You won't get any gains by adding that; electric supercharges are in the same worthless junk category as the ebay performance chips that guarantee a 60hp bump in hp for only $20.

Ditto. I think the theory of this gimmick is that the thing makes the air swirl as it goes into the air intake. It does nothing.
A better bet for a mild, cheap supercharger might be to somehow attach a (powerful) leaf blower to the intake and power it with an inverter hooked up to the battery. Maybe. I know that there are forum posts on the net of people Dyno testing a car before and after.

How can sellers get away with saying stuff like that about their product if the products are falsley advertised? Dont those companies get sued?

Eh. I just chalk it up to the fact that it's the internet. Just be lucky you didn't actually purchase it.

dudes i dont know alot about civics, but i do fly alot of rc planes, helicopters and jets. and this supercharger is nothing more than a ducted fan unit that "might" increase the flow of air into the throttle body but will not in any case increase hp. unless you can run it off an extremely high output brushless motor, and even then you aint gonna get 10 hp..... brushless motors are defined in kv which is basically how many rpm's per volt you are putting to them. like for example a 3200 kv motor makes 3200 rpm's per volt. i have a ducted fan rc jet with a 9000kv motor in it and im running an 11.1 volt battery (lithium polimer) to it, so if you do the math the motor is making 99,000 rpm,s +/-. that jet has been clocked at 111 mph. so you could get alot of air moving to your intake but i still dont think it would be noticeable...
