flywheel or intake/exhaust?

so my transmission is finaly going out and i have a replacement ready to go in. I was thinking of installing a light weight flywheel, like the ACT streetlight flywheel (11.9lbs), but those run about $150-$200, or can anyone suggest a more budget minded quality flywheel for a daily driver?

My question is... would it be worth the money to upgrade the flywheel while i am in there anways? or would it be better if i just resurfaced my stock flywheel and used the extra money for intake and exhaust?

I already have a muffler installed and a header will be put in when i replace my bad tranny.

My car is a 2000 EX and it is my daily driver. I do not plan on boosting.

And yes i did do my research so please do not tell me to use the search tab.

Ok I hear what your sayin. I you a runnig a single try to find a 88 to 91 crx si fly wheel they weight 8 pounds thats the litest one. If you are running duely, try to find the litest fly wheel you can from any 91 to 2000 b16 or b18. It will bolt up to your motor I've done this meny times and still runnig mine. Happy hunting

Re: flywheel or intake/exhaust?

I would upgrade the flywheel, decreasing the rotational mass straight off the enginel is extremely beneficial.

Re: flywheel or intake/exhaust?

Flywheel man, you can always get at the intake/exhaust, but the flywheel is a lot more work. Get it while your there!

Re: flywheel or intake/exhaust?

Great. Thank you all for your input.

"Bluhonda". could you elaborate a little more about what you were saying about single or double. I'm not following you. I was looking into the ACT 11.9 lbs streetlite flywheel. I have done a lot or reading on this subject through different forums and found that the smaller weight flywheel the faster your RPM's will drop between shifting. So I would like to stay about in the middle between heavy (16 or 18lbs) and light (7.5lbs).

That was just what i came up with. if you can suggest something better then by all means let me know..

One more thing... I didn't think that the B series would fit on a D series... is that correct?

Re: flywheel or intake/exhaust?

No stick with the "D" series. Make sure it's engine specific. It might fit, but.. it probably wont.

Re: flywheel or intake/exhaust?

You never said in your post if you have single cam or dual cam setup in your car. I know a few people that race there cars in the civic and integra classes. They run stock or mod and use lighter fly wheels for a faster acceleration, and found that it wont take away from there rpm band. Me personaly im running a atc streetlight fly wheel with my B16. The street class your looking at, if thats the one go for it.

Re: flywheel or intake/exhaust?

Its single cam. I have the EX... wish it was dual. ok great. It looks like i will most likely get myself a flywheel then...

another question: like i said this is my daily driver (though i do autocross two or three times a year). I still want my comfort. Would it be best to stick with my stock clutch? or should i upgrade to something more performance oriented? like i said. i'd rather not sacrifice too much comfort.

Thanks agian for you help everybody!
