engine swap??

sup guys

I am the proud new owner of a 97 dx hatchback. im looking into gettin an engine swap most likely a b18. I'm a little new at this though so i have a question.

would i need a new transmission to go with the b18 (i have a stock 5 speed manual transmission) or will the b18 work with the transmission i have now?

thanks guys

Re: engine swap??

What b18 are you wanting to swap in it. And no your tranni will not bolt up to the b18. D series trannis do not work with B series motors, only B series trannis will.

Re: engine swap??

If you are looking for the b18c3 it is the motor that goes in the 95-98 itr. They are pretty pricey but powerful motor.

Re: engine swap??

No, No, No...if you're gonna go through all the trouble of an engine swap, then why F-Around? The hell with a B18C out of some Acura Integra, what you need is a Honda H22A 2.2L DOHC VTEC Engine, or an H23A 2.3L DOHC VTEC. I've seen them come stock in 1997-2001 Honda Preludes & Similar Production Years of Honda Accord (some trims or something, I don't know very much about Accords)...& don't worry about weather or not it'll fit, I've seen H22A's Swapped into Honda Del Sol's before. Then, when you're modding it, you get either a Hedman Stepped Exhaust Header or DC Sports Header, a Magnaflow High Flow Catalytic Converter, Magnaflow XL muffler, Either an AEM Short Ram Intake, or a K&M Typhoon (but only AEM or K&N, don't waste your time w/ Autozone or Pepboys generic house brand), then either get a JET V-Force Plus Digital Engine Control Modifier (at Jegs.com it's classified as a "Computer Chip Programmer") or get a Hondata ECU, get an Edelbrock Intake Manifold, & that stuff would set you up to be pretty seriously fast...you wanna go much faster then that, you need to be looking at a full faced racing helmet, a racing fire suit, appropriate footwear, a Rollcage, 2 Racing (Front) Seats & 2 5-Point or 7-Point Race Harnesses...

Re: engine swap??

^ If he wanted to go big his best bet is a K series. But if he wants to go with a b series then that is good to.
