Question Rear Speakers

I have a 96 Civic 4-door...does anyone know how I can access the rear speakers? I have a blown speaker back there...

I've tried prying the grill off but it doesn't seem to come off because there's no slit, and I tried pushing up from the hole in the speaker cone and it won't pop off.

I folded down the seats and I don't really know what else I should try. Anyone else done it before?

Re: Rear Speakers

On my car (2002 2-door, and this applies to the 4-doors as well), you have to pull off the rear deck.. That involves removing pretty much all the plastic paneling in the rear of the car

Re: Rear Speakers

I just popped them off using a super skinny flathead screwdriver...you might break a few plastic tabs on the grill cover but nothing that will prevent it from going back in and staying in....It's nothing super noticeable, plus how many people are going to stare straight at your grill covers?

Re: Rear Speakers

I use to have a 98 hx and replaced the speakers back there and ya you basically got to pull all the plastic pieces off back there. They are basically all clipped together and you just got to pull them each out of there slots.

Re: Rear Speakers

If you wanna do it right it's kind of an ordeal: you gotta pull the rectangular pieces of the seat (where the seatbelt hangs) There's 1 bolt at the base on each side (just shove the seat out of the way and you'll see it down there. I wanna say it's 14mm but don't quote me). Once ya get the bolt out just lift them up. Next fold the seat down. I can't remember how I got the other section of seat out of the way, it might fold down? Once ya get that out of the way the lid has clips just like on the door panels; just get a screwdriver under there and they should pop right up. I seem to remember something about the wiring for the taillight...be sure you don't rip it out, there is a connector clip you can pop off. I also remember having the rear seat itself out at one point....not sure if that is necessary though....sorry, it's been 2 years since I've had my backseat apart
