First Civic?

Hey there, I am new to the forums. I am looking to be getting my first Civic. My question is what Civic should I go for? I am really liking the 2000 Honda Civic Si, because as far as I know it has the most horses in that year range. I have also seen DX, HX, EX, and SI. What do all of those mean. Any help appreciated. I really want to get something I can customize really nice. This will also be my first car. Thank you.

Re: First Civic?

DX civic is the basic basic civic. Small engine with no power anything or extras. Exterior has black plastic for handles and mirrors.

LX civic has the same engine as the DX but has power locks and mirrors. Still Black plastic on exterior.

HX civic has bigger engine with a CVT transmission. This one gets the best gas mileage.

EX civic has an even bigger engine and power locks, mirrors, sunroof, etc... Exterior has matching trim. ABS is only offered on the EX. Standard on sedans and optional on the coupe.

Si civic has the biggest engine. Spoiler and stuff that makes it sportier. Manual is the only transmission.

Hope this helps

Re: First Civic?

If you are wanting a 6th gen get the si but be aware that they are the #1 stolen car. But I say seriously if you want a civic get either the 7th gen si (ep3) or the 8th gen si (fa5/fg2). They are your best bet cause you will be wanting to get alot more power and do a swap to get more power and to do that is to have a k series. A built k always beats a built b. The 7th gen si k20a3 is an alright motor. Some people underestimate it. But its a good motor and it can hold its own in some places but the best swap is the k24a1 for the ep3. It bolts right up no problem and it can run off of the stock ecu which can give you time if needed to get kpro. Then get it and vtec killer setup and turbo pushing 10 psi easy with stock internals with over 450 whp.

Then there is the 8th gen si which has a very beasty k which is the k20z3. It has alot of potential cause it already is fast and the best thing is it has a lsd 6 speed tranni. It can easily beat 210 to the wheels with bolt ons and a tune. Either way will be a great choice but go with whatever you feels right for you.

Re: First Civic?

Thanks guys, it was a ton of help. I'll look into the 7th and 8th gen, and see if I can get a decent price.
