exhaust ?
exhaust ?
I drive a 98 lx. When I look at exhaust on certain websites I see certain ones that say they're compatible with a 4 door ex but it wont say anything about the lx. Does that mean the ones that work for the ex will not for the lx?

Re: exhaust ?
google could have helped you sonny jim but it is 5 am and i'm bored.
the lx has the cat on the manifold. the ex does not and has it on the end of the collector instead. You will need an ex header and/or resonated test pipe to get the ex cat back to fit the lx.

Re: exhaust ?
That actually sounds alright. One more question I'm probably swapping for a b16a so will that have any thing to do with what exhaust will fit it or not? And once time comes for me to get emissions done if I put the stock exhaust back on will it pass?
Thanx for all the help.

Re: exhaust ?
again these are all questions that you could have found out using the search button. The b series is a 30 year old platform so everything has been covered.
Emissions can make it difficult to do swaps. First of all, some engines may not have the required sensors and emissions devices required to pass inspection. I have failed plenty of Fairfax Country Emissions inspections because of swaps.
Reasons Fairfax County Failed my car:
Older swap into newer car
Check engine light on (JDM B16a does not have CFK sensor)
Missing purge valve (JDM B16a does not have one)
NOx emissions to high (Stock JDM B16 ran like that)
Missing green VIN tag and engine (they couldn't verify that it wasn't stolen)
Older engine in newer car. (You can't do this, newer engine in older car yes but not backwards)
Light truck motor in passenger car (When I had a CRVtec. SCCA didn't like that either)
Luckily they don't give a **** about CARB requirements
Check with your inspection station in your county to see what you can get away with and what will fail you.
Like I said this was in Fiarfax County, your county may be different but they are *** holes everywhere. I've failed at several stations and have donned the pink sticker of shame.
If you did get a newer B16 than the year of your car, you must use a stock exhaust manifold, stock intake and manifold and relocate the cat. Because you have emissions, your pretty much screwed into having to have one, at least for inspection days. You can remove it afterwards and just put it back on when you have inspections again, or you can do what my friends did and register it in another VA county or in MD.
