Engine swap? What are the benefits/options? 98 dx

Okay so i have a 98 civic dx and that means i have a tiny engine (106 hp).
I'd like know exactly what are my options when going about this. What engines are directly compatible with my car and what kinds need conversion?
What would you suggest?
Im pretty new to this, but ive got the basic idea of how it works.

Also, where would i get these engines?

I'd just like some help/advice about engine swapping and what my options are.

Thanks guys!

Around $2000 over a few months, powerwise I'd like to end up with somewhere in between 190-230ish. something like that.
No i dont plan on keeping the motor stock, and I have a bit of experience with smaller things, just not larger scale projects like this. I do however, learn very very quickly.
I know most honda engines by there numbers and such, (thanks to around 2 days straight on wikipedia) but im trying to learn compatibilities and what can go in what.

d16y8 head=(127hp) plus v-tec. Put together a junkyard turbo kit and you will easily make 200+ hp, Stay under 250 though! Right around 200-225 you'll be OK.

Yea, you could turbo the single cam for $2k. It would be a decent set-up, but you would also have to worry about tuning.

If you want, maybe try and score an h22 swap for cheap. That will start you off with about 190 hp, add little things here and there, and you will be at 200hp in no time.

Looking at the specs of an H22,and i like it. but will it fit with my trans mission?

And for the d16y8 head, will it fit on the d16y7 block? I imagine it would, and i was just about to ask what makes the y7 different from the y8? Its a 20 hp difference, but why?

I'm loving the help so far, thank guys!

Ok so a little bit of research showed me that the diff between a y7 and y8 is vtec, but I'd still like to know about the compatibility. Will the y8 head bolt on with no problems?

I have too many questions

D series trans will only fit D's, H series trans will only fit H series motors. Unless you buy something like the H2D kit, but that is extremely pricey.

The y8 head will fit on the y7 block. Search on how to do a "mini me" conversion.

It'll be hard to find someone to spoon feed it to you as well I would suggest doing a **** ton of searching and researching the conversion prior to attempting it.
