Hi folks,

So my car's head gasket blew and took its head with it. My brother has a 95 Civic EX with a D16Z6 engine that he's about to donate, but he's giving me the head for my 96 Civic EX (D16Y8) so I can save some $$$. I was wondering, in using a Z6 head on a Y8 block, will there be a significant downgrade (if any)? Will I lose anything power-wise, etc? Will there need to be any changes to accommodate the Z6 swap? Is it recommended that I find a Y8 head instead? I'd appreciate any info. Thanks in advance.

Im not sure if if that will work because those are 2 different generation civic. could take the head off and see. Or just go to a junkyard. I go to a place called pick a part and everything is super cheap there.

I found out it is possible to do it, but I decided to just get a D16 head. I don't want to risk downgrading just to save a few bucks. Hopefully I can find a good deal soon. RaceNLive, thanks for the heads up on that. I had never heard of Pick-A-Part until I read your post but afterwards I did some research and found out the nearest one is around a 2 hour drive from me. Not that bad. I'll keep them in mind for the future.

damn that sucks. lol. the place i go to is only 30min away. everything is dirt cheap there also. My brother had a friend that spent more time at pick a part working on his car then he did on any other girlfriend. lol. he and 98 Nissan 240SX.
