i added a spoiler to my car and with the weight of that and some dynamat now the trunk is so heavy it hardly lifts when released. i was wondering if cars that came with a spoiler stock had some sort of lift strut to help lift the trunk. i planned on getting some universals or mod some other struts i find at a junkyard but would like to see pics of how they are positioned stock.

i have a 99 4door, but any 96-00 would suffice

what you need to replace is actually called a trunk spring and the funny thing is that it is not a spring at all they are 2 metal rods that require a little finess to install. so if you say that your car didnt come with a spoiler then you have the weak trunk springs..maybe head over to your local dealer and see if they have the springs for your model car but the stronger ones to support that spoiler and dynamat...
