Hello all i just bought a 1996 honda civic dx and I like it alot. The previewous owner kept in touch with me after the sale and told me about the work that was done to it. She said that he had replace the clutch, clutch assembly, and slave cylinder on may 6th wich is a good thing . Anyway my question is that about 40% of the time when starting off from first gear as im engaging the gas and letting off the clutch I hear a single clanking sound. It only happens when I stars from a dead stop from first gear and wile letting off the clutch. Does this sound familer to anyone? Most of the time it doesnt happen. I hate that I dont know what it is. btw the sound is not loud and you hafta listen for it to hear it. I cant feel it either. I can only hear it.

I have a 1996 Civic hatchback and for a while i had a funny clanking sound when i pulled away in first and second. My strange clanking sound was a heat shield on tha front of the exhaust that eventually clanked itself off as it was rather rusty. Might be an idea just to check its not anything silly like that before taking it to a garage and paying money...

yea but my heat shield is broken right now he says you have to listen for it you dont have to listen to hear a heat shield rattle
