97 Engine Swap
97 Engine Swap
So i havent pulled a honda engine in about 4 years and i wanted to help my old lady with her engine swap. Non vtec to SOHC vtec. Is there a diy on pulling the motor? I can pretty much wing it and just start unplugging the everything but its always nice to have some guidance/tips on the project at hand before starting. Nice to know what tools i will need also. I would prefer to pull the motor and tranny out together. Please help.
Re: 97 Engine Swap
well i used 2 jacks, and got the car up really really high. i supported the motor under the oil pan with a block of wood, and under the tranny with a block of wood then lowered the engine down and pulled it out from the passenger side. but my head was removed. i kept the axles in the tranny, and moved little things out of the way. probably the hard way but it worked. an engine hoist would be best, electrical plugs hoses, motor mounts, axles that should be it to pull from the top.
Re: 97 Engine Swap
Download the factory service manual on this link, unzip it, and then follow the directions on how to remove the engine.
