Shift stuck when going into Park!

I seem to be having some trouble with my 99 Civic LX (automatic). Quite often when I go to put the car in park, the stick gets stuck and won't got past Reverse. I wind up having to jerk it pretty hard back and forth and it finally goes all the way forward. Any idea why this could be happening? I haven't notice any sort of pattern for the times that this does happen. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Re: Shift stuck when going into Park!

i'd get the transmission checked out. in the interim, to avoid screwing up your transmission any more than it is, i'd suggest leaving it in neutral and setting the parking brake.

Re: Shift stuck when going into Park!

Thanks for the advice. I've been kinda worried about my transmission for other little reasons, too. I have regularly scheduled maintenance coming up, so I will get it checked out. Thanks again for your help!
