H22?

Anyone know any information on swapping an H22 in a 95 civic hatch SI? I need to know the differences in installing it compared to a b series swap? How much harder is the wiring?

haha, ibtl? this is previous gen civics

as far as the h22, i wouldn't do it. its heavier than the b-series and will cause the hatch to be too front heavy, thus causing problems with handling. i've heard that this can be solved by using accord shocks and springs to hold the weight, but never seen it done or the results (or if it actually works for that matter). imo stick with a b-series

It would be better to stick with the b-seris. I would recommend a B16a, but if you still want the h22 here is a good site with nice prices: www.nippon-motors.com

A H22 in a 5th gen civic is very tough. The engine bay is a little smaller than the 6th gen. I'm not sure if engine mounts are available for a h22 in a 5th gen. It would work in a 6th gen however. A b-series would be the way to go.

forget these haters, h22 in a hatchy runs 12's, if tuned right.. so i say go for it, its just as hard as the b18 or any other engine, if you take it to people who do swaps alot, it wont be that hard...cost you about 1500 to swap the engine...

hell yeah! did you see that car is ht.com the crx with the h22a, dayum that car kicks serious ***. i asked him if it had the MASSIVE UNdersteer like you all though in a crx, but it apparently handles just fine. but i would not go to extreme lengths trying to get the car to handle perfectly cuz its only great for straight lines. btw i have an h22a for sale from my wrecked 2001 prelude. pm me for info $2000 firm. or i may just put that in my crx like 2point2 did on ht.com.

As someone else said H22A ownz if you want to go in a striaght line. But if you want the cornering ablitiy then go with a B18 or B16 also if money is a issue then go with a B18B Turbo set up that will run you cheaper than a H22A and you will be pushing around 240whp at 7-8psi.
Here in Tempe AZ SRD will do the complete swap fully installed for 5Gs that is with a Front mount. if you go h22a though you will have a TQ advantage and TQ is a very good deal if you want a 1/4 car well....TQ is just good all around I guess.

i just dont like the 75x90mm stroke of the d16 motors. i dont believe you can rev those very high with the r/s ratio it has, i am starting not to like my ls motor for the followng reasons, 81x89 stroke. yeah, i shoud have gotten a b18c with vtec
