it could be something as simple as a loose battery terminal. check and see if they're tight. if not, i'd say the starter solenoid is bad

well i can tell you right now, there's not a chance it's a loose battery terminal, because if he tried to jump it and it still didn't start, it obviously can't be a loose terminal, as when you attempt to jump you clamp the jumpers ON THE TERMINALS, so not an option. i take it in to the shop.

i doubt its a solenoid. i lie to you not, i work at a grocery store, and do several different things a day, work produce, cashier, bag, get buggies, bake in the deli... i do it all. anyways, i was out getting buggies, and i see a hot girl in distress. naturally, i go to her aid. her car won't start and it sounded like it's battery was dead. well, i bring my civy over and jump it to life. i told her to bring it to the shop, and she was all like, THANKS!...kiss on the cheek...and she left. later on that week she returned for more groceries and told me her solenoids had "gone bad", and had them replaced. now it starts up fine. point of the story is...the car could be jumped with bad solenoids... SHOP

Could it be the fuseable link?

It's the starter and you don't need to tow it to a shop and as far as it being an expensive and difficult fix, don't listen to that. Just get a Helms manual for your car and do it yourself, or ask your father or somebody to help, it's not that hard to change a starter.

i seriously think you should have a PROFESSIONAL diagonose the problem, as trying to diagnose a problem over the internet without any sort of video or audio is almost pointless. consider this tho: what if it is the starter/distributor/spark plugs/plug wires/fuseable link? and you replace the wrong one? this could start becoming very expensive very fast. imo shop it.

The starter is good. I took it off and had Autozone test it. It was good.
