Fix Your Blower Fan Switch for Free!
I'll spare everyone the long dry write up but I did throw in a pic of the switch taken apart.
So I just bought this car and the fan only worked on 'high' but 10% of the time all settings would work. So I changed the resistor pack like many people suggest and that didn't solve my problem.
So if that's where you're at now ... read on.
I talked to an old auto body friend of mine and he suggested soaking the switch in WD40 because the contacts were probably corroded. I didn't have any WD40 so I used PB blaster and played with the switch a few times, let it sit 10 mins, do it again. Then I flushed it 2x with 99% isopropyl alcohol and let it sit for an hour.
Put it back together again and now it works like a charm
Saving myself $75 for a used auto wrecker switch.
