Best quiet performance exhuast for 00 civic ex..?
Right now the car is stock and there's been more then a few occasions when i could have used a bit more brrrrrummmmm. Not a fan of raspy ricey exhausts or fartcan exhausts... Id like something that has a nice deep purrr when accelerating but otherwise is pretty inconspicous.
If i can find something id ad on a airintake aswell.
I havent done much reasearch but the RSR has come to my attention as a potential candidate.

thanks for the help macs.

I feel ya man. I'm currently saving up for an Apexi WS2 personally. There are a bunch of knowledgeable peeps on here that'll chime in and give you the rundown soon though. I personally know nothing

WSII is almost like stock sound, lil bit of rumble. RSR is very loud, rusts up fast (you have to keep repainting it otherwise the pipes will get holes), and its very heavy. im trying to save up for a stock exhaust to replace it with.
Re: Best quiet performance exhuast for 00 civic ex..?
it still sound best of the best
i can take vids and pics of the exhaust and its condition
i scrape the bottom side of the mid pip when the car went over a curb
and it still hold up. up here in new england we get snow
so salt and sand is like up the butt during the winter season
but so far its still good

Re: Best quiet performance exhuast for 00 civic ex..?
and to add to my quote u will feel power in mid rpm range all the way to redline
since i do everyday highway driving on my si, i like that extra power to keep up or pass traffic, if u have intake u will hear more of the intake than the exhaust as you in the upper rpm range, so in the low range u will enjoy that tone coming from the exhaust.
i live in mass and pass inspection every year

this is without no cleaning since summer
its been snowing and raining the tip is stainless steel so if u wipe it, it will shine again

No. I mean, there's the noise when winding up lower gears and winding down in lower gears. Nothing when I downshift. You'd have to be a little more specific I guess.
Re: Best quiet performance exhuast for 00 civic ex..?
Thanks Aboy, thats defiantly an option.
In this vid here i thought hte RSR sounded pretty stock and quiet until you reached the higher rpms.

A turbo muffler will flow better and will have less cabin noise.
But the chambered will have a lower softer tone if that's what you are looking for.
Just my .02

Exhausts don't add power on Civics, they take it away.

Re: Best quiet performance exhuast for 00 civic ex..?
big pipes may give you a few extra hp but rob a few tq in the lower rpms. exhaust flows faster thru a smaller pipe. you cant have it both ways. the only exception ofcourse is if you have a turbo or hi displacement motor where the engine pumps out much more air at a faster rate. then big pipes can actually give you more power if the original pipe was too restrictive.
Re: Best quiet performance exhuast for 00 civic ex..?
Is there currently a sticky for exhaust questions floating around? If not, it would be pretty sweet to come up with available exhaust systems and FAQs for those who'd wanna know. I find new stuff from the people here everyday, and I think the noobies would find it beneficial.
Re: Best quiet performance exhuast for 00 civic ex..?
sorrie guys i haven't been on here for a while.
as for Mel j im still learning about this car, i have own it for 5 years and it was my first manual. all the work i have done to it was from the help from my dad and myself
and i didnt know about the forum whiches can be very helpful if im running into any loop hole. and to you guys this was my first exhaust mod on any car i have owned, i slap it on on the first year of owning it and havent even touch it but honestly if i were to upgrade to a diffrent car i would buy the same exhaust again.
another thing to add is that whenever i use the stock air box the power changes as the engine seem to lose some hp and it was noticable too, with this exhaust and u want that extra pull always have an intake cuz it works best

Re: Best quiet performance exhuast for 00 civic ex..?
I just got myself a Vibrant Streetpower Muffler on my 2000 EX. I still have stock piping and i love the sound. its deep and quiet but it gets a little too quiet for me at very high RPM's. but I still love it. I'd suggest it.
