Spring Bolts snapped, can't get nut off exhaust connection

Replacing my oil pan I had to disconnect the exhaust and had to take out the two spring bolts holding it up. They both snapped and now I am not able to get the nut off the top. I can turn it but the whole thing turns. I tried a nut splitter and broke the nut splitter. Any other ideas on getting this out? Thanks

Cut off wheel, cut off the nut +bolt, try not to get the flange. use a normal nut and washer or a flange nut. Had to do this on my girlfriend's car.

Re: Spring Bolts snapped, can't get nut off exhaust connection

I believe those nuts are actually welded to the manifold, they are not meant to come off. As Colin42 mentioned you will have to cut them off, I used a dremel for this. Then replace with a regular nut and bolt, or replace with an actual bolt/spring kit ($5 on RockAuto).

Re: Spring Bolts snapped, can't get nut off exhaust connection

drimmel might be the only way I could get off the nut on the right. there isn't enough room I believe to fit a grinder tool there. I had no idea they were welded to the manifold, I wouldn't have tried to unscrew it and I ended up breaking it free. I've tried my little drimmel and barely make any progress, I just keep breaking the wheels. maybe I need a more powerful one?

Yes get the heavy duty cutting disks! They work much better then the thin ones that come with it.

yeah get the reinforced ones, a die grinder might be small enough if you have one.
or remove the manifold
