Need help fixing warped hood cowl

Hello everyone,

I own a 2005 Civic LX Sedan and the front hood cowl (base of windshield plastic/molding piece) is warping/separating from the windshield. It's been this way since I got the car in 2010. Is there a way to fix this with glue or a clip?

I tried searching the forum and google and can't find anything.

Here is the part if you aren't sure what I am talking about:

Part 14 and 16.

Some people may call this something else.

Here is a photo of what the warping/separation from windwhield looks like:

Also, with washing my car and raining, does water penetrate or go somewhere that can cause problems? If so, is there an easy way to get the water out.

Thanks.

It will need replacement if its deformed otherwise you can use some black silicone adhesive or double sided vht tape to glue it into the windshield. If the windshield is aftermarket the clips might not clip in place
As for the water it will drain out from the two sides of the car so that no problem, but the leaves and debris will clog up your cabin filter

Thanks for the reply. The windshield is OEM. Is there a disadvantage to using the black silicone adhesive or VHT tape to try and repair?

Thanks.

Re: Need help fixing warped hood cowl

The disadvantage is that its not the right way of fixing it but its cheap compared to buying parts from the dealership
I have used permatex black silicon adhesive on moldings and it holds well
