1997 Honda Civic EX (127K)
Out: Mobil Super High Mileage 5W-30
Miles on oil: unknown but 3,000 or less. I change it every six months regardless of miles since I only put about 500 miles a month on it.

2002 Honda Civic EX (144K)
Out: Mobil 1 High Mileage 5W-30
Miles on oil: too many.. lol.. Also, engine burns oil somewhere, so I add 2 quarts every 2000 miles.
in: Royal Purple 5W-30.. It was only 20 cents more per quart, so I said, "Why the hell not?"

It's been through a a lot.. I was boosted with a bad tune for a year and half, kinda catastrophic mishap after a sensor decided to vibrate loose and have timing belt for breakfast.. I had a leakdown test done at 75k, and I was told I have 5% leakage past my rings. She's still reliable and fun to drive

i would caution against switching brands. pick one oil and stick with it. you always have some old oil left in the engine (sometimes near a full quart) and it will screw up the add pack of the new brand oil.
2002 civic ex 104k miles
out: redline 5w30, wix filter
miles: 1 year, variable mileage 5-10k
in: redline 5w30, amsoil eA filter
LC20 additive was used to keep the oil fresh for an easy 10k miles. im sure i could go another 5k if i wanted but i dont feel good leaving the filter in that long.

2003 Civic Lx - 52k miles
Out: Quaker State Peak 5w20, Napa gold filter
Miles: 3k
In: Quakter State Peak 5w20, Napa pro select filter
It's cheap, but not the bargain brand, does the job.

same oil as i have been using since the vehicle was new, quaker state 5W20 and whatever econo filter....i believe frequency is more important than quality....and after 230,000 kilometers my engine does not burn a drop of oil and the oil comes out clean after every 8-10K kilometers, if its working i am sticking with it! my car is living proof that expensive oils are a rip off!

Just changed her oil with Mobil Super 5000 with a pureone filter from purolator.
I've been using the same oil three times now since I got the car every 5k miles. My car likes it.
