Need specific d17a2 engine specs asap

Hi im bringing my head and block over to a family friend to have him check them out. he has been a machinist for 30 years and im getting hooked up with all this help for some beer!

He asked me to find out a few things about these motors so he can see what needs to be replaced and what can stay

1- The Cylinder ID
2- The ring tolerance
3- Wrist pin and connecting rod clearance

if there are any manuals available online that i can gt the info out of please post up the links too. I really didn't want to make a thread about it, but i cant find the info anywhere and im going to his house with the parts first thing tomorrow morning

Re: Need specific d17a2 engine specs asap

Post the car info on every thread. I get tired of hunting this down. I have no clue what the d17xx stuff is, that isn't how my info is arranged.
These are from an 01:

1- The Cylinder ID

I'll say 1-2-3-4 until you get more specific here.

Damnit.

Bore 75.00-75.02 mm (2.9528-2.9535 in.) Service limit 75.07 mm (2.9555 in.)
Taper limit 0.05 mm (0.002 in.)
Reboring limit 0.5 mm (0.02 in.)

2- The ring tolerance

Ring-to-groove clearance
Top 0.035-0.060 mm (0.0014-0.0024 in.) Service limit 0.13 mm (0.005 in.)
Second 0.030-0.055 mm (0.0012-0.0022 in.) Service limit 0.13 mm (0.005 in.)

Ring end gap
Top 0.15-0.30 mm (0.006-0.012 in.) Service limit 0.60 mm (0.024 in.)
Second 0.30-0.45 mm (0.012-0.018 in.) Service limit 0.60 mm (0.024 in.)
Oil 0.20-0.70 mm (0.008-0.028 in.) Service limit 0.80 mm (0.031 in.)

3- Wrist pin and connecting rod clearance

OD 18.996-19.000mm (0.7479-0.7480 in)
Pin to piston clearance 0.010-0.020mm (0.0004-0.0008 in)

HTH
PM if you need other info.

Re: Need specific d17a2 engine specs asap

He does not build engines as a trade so id say he is out of the loop on how to find information and since he is using his tools and time for free, ill happily search Google and ask questions instead of using up more of his time.

as far as the cyl ID I think you understood me correct. He used it in context with talks of piston rings and honing so i think this is the information i needed.

again thanks for the info, and the valve guide info as well that you posted up last week for me. I hope to have the head all back together tomorrow which would be great so i can bang out re assembly after work Monday and Tuesday
