can I do this CAT?

So I have this DC header and downpipe installed:

When I get a CAT put in like this:

Will they just cut out the part I have circled in red and just attach it there to 1 and 2? Is that even a good idea? I have no clue what that mesh part is for anyways

Do you have smog tests in Oregon? The mesh typically covers the ribbed flex pipe, which allows for inherent movement/vibrations of the exhaust piping. Typically, when a race header is installed, a cat isn't used.

Re: can I do this CAT?

I'm pretty sure we have to pass some kind of emission here in Oregon. I see how the flexing portion would be important, but that's if I were to have a lot of power coming through there right? Since the best I'd ever do to the civic is an N/A build I don't think I'll need to have the ribbed part, and just replace it with a CAT instead? I got the header and downpipe for basically nothing, so getting a cat welded in will be cheaper than getting a new setup. But i'm not sure if what I'm thinking is even possible lol

Re: can I do this CAT?

on a 4-2-1 setup like you have it would be hard to do but yes. the last 02 sensor is right after the stock cat idk if you have the 2 in 1 header set up like i do where the cat is on the header. if you do have this 2 in 1 thing you have to find a way to to extend the O2 wires down to the end of the cat on that downpipe then put a rubber stopper in the O2 sensor hole on the headers
