I was a stop light and went to shift into 1st it wound move but I could hear the engine rev as I pressed the gas
once it hit 4rpms it moved but very slowly then this horrible smell started to come out from under my hood
i let it cool down and I noticed I was very low in oil could that be the problem?

Inspect front CV axles..may have popped out partially?
Level of oil on dipstick?
What was the smell (burnt oil, fuel, coolant, burnt rubber)?
Check mechanical timing: timing belt may have jumped teeth.

Need more info: Where exactly is the oil level on the dipstick..there is a "low" and "full" mark or small holes in disptick to denote those levels.
Also, when was the last time you checked the oil prior to this new issue and what level was the oil at the last time (prior to issue) that you checked it?
What causes oil loss?: Leaking and/or burning
Do not start the engine before you check timing marks to ensure the belt didn't skip teeth. Doing so you risk valves damage.
It’s at the low point on the dip stick
how do I check for the timing belt for it’s skipping teeth? It’s manual trans. I really hope it’s not my clutch giving out. The oil was a little low but to bad when I checked it earlier late last month.

When a clutch is considered burnt is it the clutch pressure plate and/or the cluch disk? Not a pretty sight: https://www.google.com/search?q=burn...ih=623#imgrc=_
OP: might as well replace the rear main seal while transmission is apart.
