P1456 can be the gas cap but also a leak in the filler neck to the tank or a leak at the tank commonly at the top of the tank where the fuel pump is (located under the rear seat and you would smell gas in the car).

HI ezone,

advance auto part, autozone is nearby, I wonder for this part, is it better to go to dealer (slightly expensive, oem at $39) or autozone (generic,Duralast Fuel Cap, $15).

I wonder if OEM is necessary for cap replacement?

Hi NDNV,

Thank you for your help. I didn't smell gas in car. when I got out of car, open that metal cover, I can smell gas. I feel the cap is little bit loose, and want to replace and see if issue go away.

in case the issue is leak in the filler neck, is that a DIY issue?

Not necessarily. I see plenty of aftermarket units that have no problems. I can't say all, but most.

If you feel the gas cap is loose then I would start there before exploring the other areas for a leak.
Personally I would buy the OEM Honda cap to try that first and drive a few drive cycles for the CEL to go out.
