P0135
P0135
CEL just popped up, P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1). Should I just change that sensor, or there is some other problems could be? I believe there is a small exhaust leak at the muffler, can that throw P0135 code?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: P0135
9 out of 10 just need a new sensor, you can ohm test the heating element to see if it's open circuit.....
Use correct sensor type (01-03= O2, or 04-05= AF) and OE brand though (Denso or NTK).

there is DELPHI ES1093 upstream sensor for Civic EX, but somehow this sensor covers many more part numbers, you can see it on the page, part number for Civic DX is also there - 36531PLM306. Same thing I found on Ebay descriptions, they selling cheap sensors I am not going to buy, but their sensor also covers a lot of cars, even some Acuras and CRVs. Does that mean Honda uses same sensor for many cars?
If that's the case, I have a lot more choices to buy it. Long story short, I just want to buy this one for my DX - http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo....&jsn=31&jsn=31
Please take a look.
Thank you.

Canadian 2005 Civic dx, MT, D17A1, O2 upstream sensor located in exhaust manifold. RockAuto seems a bit confusing, some sensors cover many cars.. They are probably same sensors, my only concern is the length of wire, I think resistance of the wire should be exactly the same, but it could change with different length.

Re: P0135
05, your upstream sensor is an AF ratio sensor. Denso brand.
No Delphi. No Botch, Wells, or other brands.
Use a correct DENSO brand AF sensor. (Denso is OEM)
I went to the DENSO website and looked up your car info and got this sensor number from their site.
Denso 234-9005
^Google that^ But stay away from cheap imitations
You can probably get the exact sensor TOMORROW at many of your local parts stores.

Re: P0135
Thank you ezone. Local stores charge too much for it, I will try RockAuto or Amazon )
Hopefully I won't harm cat converter, driving for a few days with bad sensor?

Re: P0135
As a fellow Canadian - definitely get it off Amazon .
I had to replace my upstream A/F sensor last year and the best price
I could get around town was over $350 for a pathetic Bosch.
Checked amazon and they had the OEM Denso for $175.

Re: P0135
I know, parts in Canada way more expensive.. I am even considering visiting local junk yard, they charge $10 for O2 sensor, I will probably go there first )
Re: P0135
I had the same P0135 code last week and replaced my sensor with a Denso. But my part# is different, 234-9017. I thought Amazon sells your part for $96. Maybe it costs more to buy in Canada? My replaced sensor was also a Denso. I bought a sensor from local parts store for $230 since I didn't want to wait for a sensor from Amazon(afraid of cat damage).
My local parts store loaned me the sensor socket. It has 2 drive sizes, 3/8 and 1/2". I used 1/2". Drove up to the ramp and worked from under it took less than 15 minutes.
