Unhappy Fuel pump check valve?

I replaced the fuel pump on my 01' Civic. Since then, I have had a long crank for it to start. Runs fine after it starts. I've replaced both the FPR in the gas tank and replaced the fuel rail which also has a FPR. New injectors with new rings as well (no leaks). I think I must've missed something putting the fuel pump/fuel filter assembly back together? Is there a "check valve" that comes off the old pump that I needed to put on the new pump? I'm losing fuel pressure somewhere. Thanks

What was wrong with the original pump? How long is the crank time? Have you tested the pressure and bleed down with a fuel pressure gauge?

Some cars had a longish crank due to the time it takes the immobilizer to authorize the PCM to start the car.

This seems to be a common problem area. Maybe one of the lines didn't get clipped together completely or an O ring dislodged?

Re: Fuel pump check valve?

If you find it let me know... I've had this issue for like 7 years.

But I think mine is immobilizer related

I can crank it for 10 seconds and it won't start some days. But If I turn the key to II then let it prime it fires in 2 to three cranks.

...other days it fires up no problem.

Never had a long crank until I swapped the fuel pump. Nothing was wrong with the old pump other than age so I just change it for the heck of it. Even if I put the old pump back in it has a long long crank before it starts too.
