In the US, 2001-05 are 7th generation cars.

The engine is not normally called out by generation, everyone seems to refer to them by the code stamped into the block.
The regular 1.7 engine will be either D17A1 or D17A2, the latter being equipped with VTEC for EX trim level cars in the USA.

Hybrid has a completely different engine, and SI in the USA has another completely different engine. Canadian SI is not the same car as a USA SI.
