Honda Civic D17 to D16 swap?
Honda Civic D17 to D16 swap?
Has anyone ever swapped from a D17 to a D16 motor? Are the mounts different between the 2 motors? Would I still be able to use the stock transmission that is on my D17? Are the wiring harnesses different would I have to get a new wiring harness and computer for my car?

I thought it was illegal to swap the motor from an older car into a newer chassis... you can swap newer engines into older chassis, but not old into new? Maybe only a CA/VA/NY emissions rule?

^^This
You'd need a new everything, from what I understand. Engine, harness, ecu, tranny, mounts.. You can still use the old clutch though, so that's something.
Why, pray tell, would you go to a D16?

I decided to stick with a D17. What I am going to do is buy a D17 motor build it with a turbo and all of the other performance mods that I want on the motor then I can spend a day or two swapping my stock motor out for my built and turbocharged motor.
