Exclamation 2004 Honda Civic Maintenance Costs

Hey guys, just bought a 2004 Honda Civic EX, 120k miles. I got it inspected and this is what the Honda Dealership Service station quoted me, before taxes I kid you not:

Air cleaner element - $49.95
Cabin ait filter/HEPA micro filter $98.85
Brake fluid flush $153.95
Valve adjustment $208.95
Alignment $94.95
Spark plugs $219.95
Transmission Fluid Service $115.95

These prices seem absurd. What do you guys think? I'm sure a lot of these thing can be DIY, any suggestions?

Re: 2004 Honda Civic Maintenance Costs

Prices look high for the area I'm in.
Prices might be average for a metro area.
Prices are probably average for your area.

If you can't DIY, then you pay someone else to do the work.
You are always free to shop around.

I'm surprised they didn't write a timing belt job on the list.
Also, looks like they went for the gravy maintenance services. No mention of real problems or issues?

Cabin filter for $100..? Holy. Crap. What a rip. Buy the $20 filter and it takes MAYBE 5 minutes to swap out...

You might think it's a rip, but I only need to sell ONE glass.

They did include the timing belt, but previous owner had it done at 105k miles so told them I didnt need it. Im planning of doing Spark plugs, Filters, and tran fluid myself. And no, had the multipoint test and everything besides the mentioned passed.

Wow those prices are absurd. I guess you know what dealership to avoid? Pretty sure I changed the spark plugs in my '02, with OEM platinum, for $80, including the tools. It seriously takes 10 minutes if you don't know what you are doing, 5 if you do.
