well gas got too much for my truck as a DD, found a decent Honda civic that I bought. the engine and transmission are strong, suspension is nice too. However, the car has 176,000 miles on it. What should I do to give it a thorough check and make sure everything is running good? Ive checked the suspension and there is no tears in the ball joints, and the shocks are good too. does need new tires though. much help appreciated because when it comes to these little tuner cars I am way out of my element!

Welcome.

I would do plugs (NGK), air filter if its dirty, change the oil and that's about it. You could do a radiator flush and trans flush but its up to you.

Just make sure you buy OEM or high quality parts for it when it needs them.

I don't and I'm sure he wouldn't either. Couldn't speak English well. Is there a way I can have it checked?

You can do a visual inspection of the belt to see if it is worn. It should have been changed at 110k miles.

If it breaks then it will bend a valve and cost you more money.
