Problem with new struts...

Alright guys, need some help to clarify my issue. I purchased new quick struts for the front end of my civic and installed them. Everything is fine with them except for a little issue with the driver's side. When I go over speed bumps or even if there is a small 2-3inch drop off in the pavement the driver's side strut sounds awful... Its like a loud bang.. Not sure how else to describe it. it doesn't do it all the time though. There are no other issues with the struts except for that issue with the driver's side. I've taken it off and compared it to the old strut and it's identical. Then reinstalled it and it still does it. So now I'm clueless on what could be the culprit. Anyone have any ideas of what the issue could be?

Thanks.

Were the strut mounts replaced?

This sounds exactly like my brother's car when he had a blown shock. The shock started leaking, and not long after, whenever he would go over a decent sized dip or bump, you would hear a bang. Once he installed his new shocks, that solved the problem.

Did you replace your shocks with OEM ones? Or what kind?

Re: Problem with new struts...

@go-part Yeah, the strut mounts were replaced as being that it was a quick strut. So everything was replaced.

@rustycivic Shame on me...But they were a set that I purchased of eBay. Which is where I most likely screwed up. With that said it just makes no sense to me why the driver side makes that "bang" noise and the passenger side doesn't. I've searched and searched and can't seem to figure out why it's doing it.

Re: Problem with new struts...

Yeah I was leaning towards that. Just gonna buy another strut from the dealership. Hopefully this one won't be damaged.

Not sure the dealership sells quick struts, only ones you would have to piece together. Also, I'm pretty sure that the fronts are supposed to be the same and the rears are supposed to be the same at least. Anyhow, if you want quickstruts-heard decent things about Monroe quickstruts that you can get at pretty much any auto parts place.
