leak some stinkin where????

Ive done a lot of work to this car. the people that had it before me always took it to the dealer to get it serviced. and apparently the dealership didnt give a rip about what they were doin. tore a lot of stuff up and i have been slowly repairing everything with oem honda parts.

well now Im up against my match. I have eith a oil or coolant leak. I feel like its coolant because it loses fluid. not raidly but it does.

head gasket has been replaced, valve cover, vtec gasket, every gasket on the block has. but there is constantly fluid coming out around where the water pump/thermostat housing connects to the block.

but it never shows that im losing oil. pressure test shows nothing. but the reservoir never goes down either, it also never shoots out. no splatter spots on the hood.

only place fluid is, is around/ under where the connection to the block is. and i have replaced that gasket as well.

does anybody have any suggestions??? im completely stumped.

You pinched the water pump seal.

huh?

this doesn't make any sense,

the water pump and thermostat are in significantly different places on the engine, the fluid must be coming from one or the other, not both,

the water pump is located under the timing belt cover, it would be difficult to tell if the water pump was leaking without removing the timing belt cover, unless the leak was so bad that coolant was dripping out of the bottom of the timing belt cover, that would be near the crank pulley,

the thermostat is at the front left corner of the engine,

where are you seeing the fluid?

okay if you cant see the picture theres the link for the diagram. and i see what your saying. did not mean to say water pump. i havent touched it. the gasket i recently replaced is #9.

where #8 is bolted to the motor is where i see fluid. and beneath it as well. in those flat areas. and it runs down the front of the motor

is number #1 the egr valve? thats what it says on the site. could that be my leak?

coolant does go down. but when i look on the motor i cant tell if coolant is being leaked or oil. on the motor it looks like oil. but im wondering if thats just from new fluid mixing with grime from previous leaks.

Re: leak some stinkin where????

EGR valve cannot leak coolant, coolant is not involved in its operation. It just sits on the same housing on this engine.

Clean off ALL of the mess so you can tell where a leak starts at and what the leak is. Quit guessing.
Throw talcum powder on it, that can help you pinpoint (see) the start point of a leak. (Gotta start out dry though.)

Not a hose, not the thermostat? You didn't crack the casting by bolting it down unevenly?
Revisit your previous work (gasket #9) That is a steel gasket, correct? I seal the coolant passage area of the gasket (on both sides) with Permatex #3 Aviation Sealer because I don't always trust a dry steel gasket 100% sometimes.
Make sure there is nothing caught between surfaces that could keep them from mating flat against each other.

Re: leak some stinkin where????

Correct that is a steel gasket. I just ordered2 more off the same website not sure if they will both be steel.

But thats exactly what I was thinkin. Goin back and sealing it with sealant.

Not the thermostat. Or the hose. I checked them when I took it apart the first time.

I will check on the housing.

I will try the powder when i clean everything up. Hopefully this works. Fingers crossed!!.

Appreciate your opinion.
