Rep Power: 0 Help a girl out? Going to look at a 2001 LX
Hi everyone,
This evening I am going to look at an '01 LX 4 DR sedan. It has 112k miles on it, the timing belt and fuel pump were replaced last year and it is a 5 speed manual transmission. The current owner said he has had it 2 years but doesnt know how many previous owners the car has had. He is selling it to buy a truck and asking $3800 for it, which is quite a bit under kbb...suspicious?
I am looking for a car to replace my 94 Corolla (sad) and I want to be smart about my next purchase and not end up with a money pit. I keep reading that the 2001s have a lot of tranny problems??
Ok, so what should I ask/look out for when I go tonight? The only visible problem from the photos is a bit of fading on the hood and top of the car.
Sorry for the long post, any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

the transmission problems were with the automatics not the manuals. i would get a carfax report and have a mechanic check the car over if you don't know what to look for.
