Question What sub model is my civic?

I tried google, carfax, and honda websites with no clear answer. Carfax said it's a DX, and another site told me it was an EX. Someone else told me it was an EX Special, or whatever...

It was tagged as "Salvaged" when I bought it so I don't know what parts of it are original, and what parts are replacements, but it is a 2004 Coupe with:

5 Speed transmission
Cloth interior
Power locks
No Sun Roof
Basic CD Player (no inputs)
Manual windows
Has a spoiler
No tags besides the Honda one
Also, It's Canadian

(I don't even know if the car features will help tell what model it is or not)

Anyone have any idea? Or how I could find out?

Here's a picture:

Dang, you're right.
DX and VP doesn't show power locks though.... maybe aftermarket locks?

(I'm looking in parts catalog)

OP: Is this a US or Canadian car?

Re: What sub model is my civic?

If I had to guess I would say DX.

I believe all LX came with power windows. I could be wrong though.

Its 100% not an EX though.

Did not notice that. I am guessing it has to be a DX then.

Don't know about other years, but 2001 LX definitely DON'T have painted handles. However, they do have power locks and power windows.

Re: What sub model is my civic?

It's quite a mystery. While we're on the topic of my car... what's with my cup holders and surrounding area being different than all of your em2's? All of yours have a cover over the cup holders and storage spot under the radio, but mine don't even have holes for a cover to clip into.

Take a look (don't mind the mess, and door panel pieces on the floor):

But you have the lighter socket! I'm thinking that's an accessory.

Wow your car is messed up that center/cupholder stuff is from the 01-02 civic. They really screwed with your car after whatever accident it was in.

Re: What sub model is my civic?

If I'm correct--the dx came without a tach. Does your car have a tach? LX and EX both came with it, so that should narrow it down unless the cluster was swapped out.

I don't know, I'm new to the civic scene. Why would mine be different than the rest of them?

Not that I'm complaining - I personally don't like those covers

Re: What sub model is my civic?

Punch your complete VIN into a Canadian parts catalog, see what it says your car should be.

Lol come on guys this is clearly a DX model, scared me for a minute thought it was my car! They come with power locks and my interior is identical.

Re: What sub model is my civic?

Hmmm... I thought that style center was only on the older 7th gens. And when did they start putting tachs in DX models?

Well that's comforting lol.

And ezone, that site said it's unable to process my VIN at this time. I tried a different Honda site earlier with the same result.

Lol I really dont think it is as simple as you think. Does your dx have a tach?

His does.

If I had to be honest, it seems like its a dx that has been significantly modified. Someone purchased a dx but opted to get the spoiler? It just doesnt make sense. This car was clearly modded after the original owner.

My Dx has a tach, I also have a spoiler...though its looks to have been added after original purchase.

Re: What sub model is my civic?

Thought DX's didnt come with tachs, I guess that was older gens. His interior is alot different plus being canadian doesnt help. Wonder what the final verdict will be lol.

Re: What sub model is my civic?

I called my local Honda dealer today and gave them my VIN and they told me it's a DX Special. So I guess all the things that imply that it's a different model were taken from other cars after the accident it was in.

Makes sense... I thought I was going crazy and might have to spend more time on this forum (like I don't spend enough already) figuring out what a dx had again. lol.
