Hey guys im new to this so bear with me.
Ive got a (pretty much) stock 2004 Civic EX Coupe.
Im looking to get a new exhaust system put on but i dont really know too much about exhaust systems. I want one with a deep sound but not too loud.
If possible, something cost effective as well but thats not a huge issue.
Any suggestions?

Re: New Exhaust
magnaflow catback & RS*R exhast have a very clean deep tone thats not rice.

if u want a smaller purr without the ricey-fart cannon sound, get the HKS hi-power

where are u located? i have a magnaflow exhaust FS. if u are in CA, you are welcome to come and pick it up.

Re: New Exhaust
another (possibly stupid) question, do i have to get the full exhaust system or can i just have the place do custom piping and just get the good sounding muffler?

well, the reason why you buy exhaust setups that are already made is that it has been tested and test over and over to produce a great and amazing sound.

because the sound depends on the exhaust, type of resonator, diameter of piping...etc

however, if u choose to "build ur own" exhaust, and it comes out sounding like a fart cannon or weed wacker, its going to cos you more $$$ to fix and trial and error.

in more cases, just welding/replacing the tip/muffler will make ur exhaust sound like a fart cannon or weed wacker.

just my expierence and .02

Re: New Exhaust
for the civic, it wouldnt matter much. but on more powerful cars, the mandrel bent piping of a full catback will be better than a custom system pieced together. the mandrel bending (and sometimes the material cost) is why most systems are so expensive. and like sleepy says, you will not know what a custom setup sounds like til its done.

Re: New Exhaust
I have a '05 LX that has custom piping. Dunno what muffler I had since the car came with it, but I had a HKS put on with custom piping and she sounds good! I hit a metal hitch someone dropped in the road. Had I not been lowered, I probably would have gone right over it, but instead I gashed my pipe. I'm diggin' that HKS sound and all I have is the pipe, muffler, and intake. The header is next on my list and I expect that would probably change the sound again too.
