Hello,

I am wondering what are the best or recommended spark plugs I should get for my 2002 Honda Civic EX VTEC? I recentley put some Bosch x2 in my girl's car which is the same set up as mine and they work fine. Should I look at some Iridium plugs for mine? NGK? DENSO? What do you guys like or recommend?

i always use NGK plugs cause i was always told that they do the best with honda's and they haven't failed me yet

either NGK or DENSO nothing else. as for specific type i always recommend Iridium long life plugs.

For cars that NGK makes in their heat range/style:
NGK Laser Iridium is by far my #1 choice.

For cars that NGK doesn't make a Laser Iridium plug:
NGK Laser Platinum is my close #2.

Important in either case that it says "Laser" in the beginning and not just the Iridium IX or Platinum... "Laser" (for NGK) signifies that the ground strap is coated with platinum (instead of nickel), which makes them last much longer. It's more expensive, but it'll be a long while before you need to put in new ones.

As with everyone else, NGKs or Densos. Don't forget to gap them! Remember, these plugs are used on different cars, not just yours.

OK sounds good! That is what I was thinking...I'm coming from working on my old 5.0 Mustang GT so the cars are a little different...LOL.

Do you still have to gap iridium plugs? Like meaing are they pre-gapped or no? I have no problems gapping pugs...just checking. Thanks!

I never gap them. They have a cardboard shroud around them to protect them, how the heck is it gonna change. Yeah, yeah, you'll hear anecdotal reports that they sometimes have incorrect gap somehow, but I've never had that problem.

I have no say on the iridium ones personally. My platinum ones were about .004" too small for Honda's recommended gap for my car. I had to make the gap wider. It even says on the box to double-check the gap.

Ok. I think I am going to go with the best plugs the local Pepboys carries. That would be the NGK Laser Platinum's that green01civic recommended. They do have NGK Iridiums but they are not laser...
