Question Need help please.

2001 civic si coupe. 240,000 km. I was giving my gf driving lessons when suddenly she had trouble pushing the clutch down and was getting grinding and whining sounds while getting it into gear. We tried to limp it home but it got harder to shift as the minutes went by. Got the car towed to the dealership where I work. The clutch pedal is really hard to push down and the car won't go into gear. The car also stalled out randomly when the clutch was pushed down. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Need help please.

Could be a master cylinder issue, bad pressure plate, or maybe a release/throwout bearing problem. The first and last ones mentioned should be easy to check for.

Re: Need help please.

Sweet. Thanks. I'm gonna get one of the techs at work to put it up on the hoist in the morning and hopefully it'll be an easy fix.

Don't forget the usual cause of pressure loss- slave cylinder.
