Exhaust System?

Again I just bought me a 2003 Civic EX. I did a CAI. Now im looking at headers and a cat back system (going to leave the CAT section stock). I was just wondering what cat back system will give me a deep tone. I dont want the "bee in a tin can" sound...I want it to sound deep!

Any sugestions? And another thing.....my car has the D17A2 VTEC. IS there anything I can do to make the VTEC crossover louder and more violent? Right now you can barely hear it or feel it. :/

Re: Exhaust System?

it's not the same kinda vtec found in the b16/18. It's vtec-e. It's only meant to increase efficiency at low RPMs.

In other words, you're not gonna feel/hear the crossover

Re: Exhaust System?

So when does it kick in exactly? at 2500...rather than 5200 like normal VTEC?

Re: Exhaust System?

from all the searching ive dun everybody agrees that vtec on our cars engages at 4500-4700 rpms at WOT. i drove mine around for a whole day listening for it and thats where it seems to hit.

id say if u want a deep tone go with a skunk2 or sum sort of equivalent style catback then for a header just buy a basic 4-1 header (ceramic or stainless is your choice). just make sure to get new spring bolts and donut gasket.

Re: Exhaust System?

honestly if u just want loudness n cheaper than a cat-back exaust just go with a high flow cat n remove muffler or find a exhaust shop n get a Hollowed out cat slap it on with sum of those adjustable pipe clamps n remove mffler untill u get enogh money for a good system theres my 2 cents
Please dnt flame
