Steering problem...help?

Hi all,

I noticed yesterday that when I turn to the far left then slightly turn back to the right there is a loud popping/snapping noise coming from under the hood. This is the first and only problem I have had with my car, it is completely stock. I have looking everywhere around the power steering pump and can't see anything that is blocking or rubbing anywhere. It almost sounds like a valve is possible getting stuck and then rapidly releasing when I turn back to the right. Anyone have any idea what could possibly be the problem? Is there any known issues with the 2005 civic steering system that go bad?

Thanks

Re: Steering problem...help?

I've noticed something kinda similar on my '01. When I'm stopped and have the brakes on and turn to the right, there's a thump/clunk/pop. It also happens at very low speeds when I'm turning right and applying the brakes. I feel it more through the brake pedal, though, than the steering. Someone once told me it's the front calipers adjusting, but why would it do that only when turning the wheel right and not at all when turning left?

I will try and do the same today and see if mine does it as well. What ever it is I hope it isn't very expensive. My car only has 45k miles on it so there really shouldn't be anything failing this early.
