Performance, what will give me the most bang for the buck on my 1.7L motor? On my powerstroke 7.3L diesel a chip programmer will give me over 110hp and 180 FP of torque, but on this little guy what’s my first choice?

trade it in for an rsx or engine swap it with a k20 for about the same price as an rsx.

nothing will give you power for cheap. there are really only 3 mods that will improve power
a) turbo kit ($3k-10k depending on power goals and what youre looking to gain - 70hp+)
b) k20 engine swap (also 5k or more depending on if you do the work or not - 70hp+)
c) k-pro engine management (1k or maybe less if you can find a used one - 20+ hp)

theres not really a limit to high you can go with power, budget is always the problem. those are pretty much base budgets for that minimum amount of hp though. you wont get much of anything from bolt ons. you can do every bolt on possible and will only achieve probably 10hp at best. d17s dont do well with basic mods.

Thanks, thought perhaps a chip programmer or swap might add a little for GET. I’ll most likely leave er stock and buy that Mini Cooper S I’ve always wanted in a few years....or an SI
