Racing Seats

I was wondering if anybody on here has eBay racing seats. They have sick looking ones for around 200 bucks. It comes with the rails to mount the seat to the floor. My biggest concern is comfort. They look like decent quality, but how comfortable will it be. I realize that these sit lower than stock but i was thinking about mounting something under them to raise them up a little bit. What do you all think. Should i just save for rsx/ep3 seats. or go for brand new ones on eBay. thanks guys

Re: Racing Seats

Quality is terrible.. if you want racing seats buy some good ones... and good ones don't come off ebay I also find that racing seats are not very comfortable, and a lot of them are very hard to get out of because they have a lip on the seat portion of them. I suggest going to a store that has them on display and actually trying it before you buy it.

P.S. Racing seats are very hard, make sure you know that before you buy them!

Re: Racing Seats

ebay sucks, rsx/si sucks. ive sat in both. they are heavy as hell and dont feel much different than a regular factory seat. stick with aftermarket corbeau/sparco etc. you get what you pay for, and those seats are usually lighter and more comfortable. the cheap seats are hard, but most name brands use injected foam, which can be quite soft once your body heats it up. alot of the better seats even use expensive memory foam!

Yes.

P.s. - those seats look nasty. Are they GREEN? "Universal Fits Any Car, Truck, SUV Or Minivan" Sure would love racing seats in my minivan.

@gearbox - I never really thought about the SI seats in one of our cars... do they fit well? I want to get some black leather RSX seats or something because my seats have some burn marks in them right now from the original owner.

I wonder how much it would cost to get them reupholstered in leather...

Re: Racing Seats

the si seats feel almost like our stock seats, almost no difference. the rsx feels more like a real race seat, but its more of a cross between the two. rsx seats are extremely heavy, the leathers weigh 60 lbs a piece! even the cloth ones are alot due to the side airbags. our stock seats are close to 32 lbs, and most aftermarket race seats are 25-30. ive seen some real leather seat covers for our cars on ebay for around $550 for the full set front/back, plus you have to have it professionally installed (remove old seat covers, install new ones, mold to the seat with heatgun, etc).

Re: Racing Seats

yeah but those cost $1k+ per seat, not really worth it imo. and obviously the lighter the seat, the worse it will feel. alot of those seats arent practical for a daily driver.

I'd hate to have to get in and out of those... look at the lip on the *** part. Designed for safety not comfort or easy of entry/exit.
