Motor Mounts

So i bought the energy poly. motor mount inserts. It only came with four pieces, two for each mount. And the mounts that are being backed up are for the passenger side and driver side mounts. Isn't there a mount to the tranny too? Do they make inserts for this mount, or is there no need?

Re: Motor Mounts

there are four stock mounts: middle rear, middle front, left, and right. the ES inserts are for the two middle mounts, which take the most abuse. you cant really mod the left and right ones anyway due to the design. the middle front is shared with the trans i think, and thats the one that usually tears (the one close to the radiator). the front is easy to remove and put the inserts, but rear is much more difficult. alot of us just use the front mount inserts cause its less vibration.

Re: Motor Mounts

it looks like a big U of shiny (or dull, if its dirty) metal. and has huge bolts holding it. when it comes out, you will see the oem mount is pretty hollow, you just put one ES insert on each side to make a sandwich, then stuff it back on the car. may want to search around for my posts about installing it. there are a few good threads with detailed instructions. do not try to install them without reading those posts first. alot can go wrong.

Re: Motor Mounts

i think they are different shapes. i threw away my rear middle inserts. just having the front inserts is a good improvement over broken oem and vibration is minimal, esp after they get worn in.

Re: Motor Mounts

mine are not torn or anything so do you think it will vibrate even less than if i had a torn one like most do when adding these? or will that not really make a difference.

Re: Motor Mounts

i think if anything, a torn oem mount would cause less vibration because there is some more movement. but i doubt it will be much different. only doing one mount of four will not noticably vibrate much. but in any case, the vibration will get less over time. i have a hard time even noticing anymore.

Re: Motor Mounts

im sure they do, bushings should be installed already. not sure about poly or not. im getting poly bushings for front/rear sway too. just be sure to order the right sizes cause every model has a different size bar it seems.
