Re: New Here

welcome. well first thing is first. just because something is on ebay doesnt always mean its cheap. ive picked up a lot of good things off of there, you just have to be sure of what exactly it is that you are getting. youd be surprised at how many companies with their own websites that a lot of guys on here purchase from, have their own ebay user names and sell cheaper on there because there is way more business. also a lot of companies in tuner magazines sell on ebay under user names as well. there is tonnes of feedback on here about everything you can imagine down to the nut and bolt. you just have to search some of it up.

as for what you should do first, it depends what youre into. are you going to slowly transform this car into something all visual? or are you hoping for power? or maybe a bit of both just to make it a fun and nice car to drive?

Re: New Here

Yea, i know what u mean by ebay.. Its truth everything u said about it..

Thanx for a warm welcome anyways..

Well, first i am going for visual parts on the civic, i have the CL for the power so i am not worrying about power in civic cuz its my everyday car. If i were going for power i would go boost which i might later.. But as much i know about my motor its a dx so which d series is that?

U have a nice civic as well tho...

Re: New Here

thanks about the car.

all em2 civics (01-05) are d17 engines. whether its dx/lx or an ex, they are all 1.7L d17 engines. the dx/lx version (like the one you have is a non v-tec) and has a little bit different gear ratio than the ex version. its i think 118hp. the ex is still a d17 but it has v-tec, and its 127hp stock.

if youve read anything at all which you probably have, you already know that next to nothing for bolt on add ons give us barely any power, so to get significant gains, youd have to do some serious head work, get an expensive upgrade like k-pro, or go boost or swap.

if youre going visual for now, there are a lot of diy on here for stuff you can do. the best ones in my opinion are the headlight clearing, new grill and get some nice rims/tires.

Re: New Here

I Went to another shop and they wanted 580 with everything.. Tanabe springs which gives me 1.5 drop, and rear and front camber kit...

Is it hard to install a springs and camber kit byurself? I mean it can come way cheaper if i install it.. So How hard is it to install springs/camber kit urself?

Re: New Here

Hey bro, first off here are the specs for your (our) engine, unTuned was really close :P With the D17 (non vtec) you're running about 115 hp at 6100 with 110 ft/lbs of torque at 4500.

As far as paying that shop to do your suspension mods, it all depends on your skill level.. If you're confident in your abilities with a wrench, you can save yourself a lot of cash by doing the work yourself.. Springs and a camber kit are not difficult to install yourself - if you have an eye for detail and pay attention to what you're doing.

However, the suspension of your ride is a pretty big deal.. It's not like a simple cosmetic mod on the interior. If you aren't fully confident in your abilities, I would seek the assistance of others or simply drop it off at the shop - better safe than sorry! With that being said, I would be more than happy to offer my assistance anyway I can, and I'm sure others feel the same

Re: New Here

if you can use a wrench you can DIY your suspension its actually very simple to to with the rite tools. and you'll save 600 dollers for a new system or some other upgrade there are some really good DIY's with lots of pics around.
