i posted this in the wheel and tires section but it seems that people mainly look under "new threads" so i put it here as well in hopes for a faster response. i'm looking at getting new tires, all i've ever had were the stock tires, and nankangs. i've been reading through the tire review thread and looking around online and came accross these two tires; toyo proxes 4 195/50 R15 at $61.20 a tire , falken ZIEX ZE-912 195/50 R15 82H TH, mit Rim protection at $50.60, and falken ZE-502 195/50 R15 82H with rim protection at $43.40 a tire. what would yall prefer out of the three, any reccomendations? thanks in advance for the help

nevermind, i found some more reviews online at tiretest.com and decided to go with the Falken ZIEX ZE-912 195/50 R15. all i need to do now is get them mounted on the new rims and i can get to work my suspension, i got a 4 day weekend next weekend so i might try and do it all then. i'll post pics when it's done

yea the falken is a really good tire for the money performance wise. there really quiet and they also stretch nicely .the only downside is the tread life sucks ***** exspeacially if your lowered and dont have perfect alignment other then that good choice im rockin the ZEs

I'm extremely happy with my Goodyear Eagle GTs. I actually chose them over the Falkens due to tread wear...which is 400. They were also less expensive. I think it might have something to do with them being a brand new model. I would highly recommend them...they're very comfortable, grip very well, and look bad-***.

Can I ask why you're going with that tire size? Personally, I think that they will look much too small on your car and will also throw off your speedometer quite a bit. Did you consider 205/55/15?

honestly no deffenite reason on why i went with that size but i also considered a 205/50/15

The Falkens are a pretty good tire, actually. I had some on the wife's Subaru and liked them. I would not recommend a tire with a tread rating over 80,000 miles though. Harder compound, not as sticky. Especially on Civics because they are too light. My Pirelli's are awesome tires, but totally suck on my Civic because it's not heavy enough. They work great on my friends VW GTI, because it weighs so damn much.

I would consider a 205/55/15 if I were you. I find 15s are too small for the 7th Gen's wheel wells, which makes it even more difficult to run a low profile tire. 205 width should give you a slight 'dished' look, while the 55 sidewall will fill up the wheel well a bit. Here are a couple of pics I did quickly on a wheel fitment simulator...first one is with 50s, second with 55s. This is also with a 2" drop. I think this resembles your car, no?

i dont understand, if youre using a 15" rim, whether its stock or not, and whether youre dropped or not, you should still be trying to use something similar to the stock size which is 185/65. im wondering why you would choose a 195/50. the entire tire diameter is way smaller and would make your wheel well gap way bigger. that would defeat the whole purpose of dropping your car.

do you know what those numbers actually mean? the first number is the width of the tire in millimetres. the second number is the height of the tire wall in a % compared to the first.

ie. 195/50
width of tire = 195 mm
height of tire = 50% of 195 mm = 98 mm

185/65

width of tire = 185 mm
height of tire = 65% of 185 mm = 120.25 mm


so basically when your 195/50 is installed on a 15" rim, your wheel well gap will be 22.25 mm (120.25 - 98) BIGGER than when using stock 185/65 on the same 15" rim. if youre not familiar with a metric system, 22.25 mm is the same as 7/8".

as for tires, i use kumho ecsta-ast tires. they have great treadlife, theyre super quiet when driving, and they grip like beasts even in the rain. they look pretty sharp too.

i don't race or autocross or anything like that, i just do it because i want to have a nice looking car. i've researched the tire sizes and i was a little confused on them and so i asked a guy i work with who races all the time and he explained it to me and then recommended that i go with a 195/50
