Lowering

I have an 03 Civic Sedan and I wanted to lower it. I am getting a good deal on some megan lowering springs. So I did some research on the springs and the website says it will lower the car 1.5" front and back. So my question is can I lower it useing my factor struts and will I have to get a chamber kit?

Re: Lowering

you need a camber kit for any amount of lowering to be able to align the car. and stock shocks dont work at all on a lowered car. go with some tokico HP or some others that are rated for lowered car.

Re: Lowering

Yes, you can keep your factory struts. I'm lowered 1.5 inches on Tein S-Techs and factory struts, but I wouldn't do it with a car older than 5 years.

Yes, you need a camber kit.

Yes, you need to get an alignment after everything is installed.

Re: Lowering

camber kit? yes...factory struts? you could, but it's not recommended. i lowered my car an inch on h&r springs and about 6 months later my shocks went out. when people say do it right the first time there is a reason behind it, i found that out the hard way. since you'll be taking everything out to put the coilovers on might as well upgrade everything you can while it's all taken apart (i.e. struts, bushings, ball joints if needed, etc.).

just sayin that if it were me, i'd hate to put in the coilovers, go get an alignment then shortly after have the shocks blow out and then take it all apart again to replace the shocks then go get another alignment...just seems like a real pain when you can just do all that the first time.

Re: Lowering

Thanks for all the help. I like the way my car looks but I think that it would really set it off if I lowered it. I would also like to know if it would be better to get coilovers or lowering springs. My car is a daily driver and I'm not really lookin to make it fast just keepin it clean.

Re: Lowering

if your just goin for looks then i'd go with springs, tein s-techs will give it a 1.5" drop, anything lower than that you'll probably have to get coilovers for and a decent set of coiloevers are fairly expensive, springs are alot cheaper, got my s-techs for $170 shipped
