Is it useful and worth it? ... short-shifter
hey guys i wanted to reduce the stock height of my **** .. and i wanted to know what i could do .. is it worth it to get a short shifter?? My friend has one on his car, and the shifting seem very stiff, different and kinda wierd :S ... like hard and i don't know i don't really like how it feels ... does this mess with the tranny? I wanted some info on short shifters for this car ... i love how the stock shifter feels.. i just have an aftermarket shift **** but wanted to get the height lowered? but i mean if a shortshifter is BETTER for the car ... then i don't have a problem upgrading. What are the GOOD brands out there, the best ones ? let me know guys please, all u pros .. espcially u boosted guys, u guys have a short shifter on ?? or not ??

just cut ur shifter, thats what i did. I had a obx short shifter and it was good for a few months but apparently it screws up ur synchros timing so i went back to stock much better and theres no more grinding into 2nd gear.

get a revo ss, i love mine, and most people here have it, fantastic item, and it does not **** up ur synchros, we have a cable type shifter, it changes nothing on the trans, just the actual shifter

I have a revo and I love it. When you first install it feels really firm, but either it loosens up a bit as the grease gets worked into the system, or you just get used to it, but in a week or so you don't really notice the stifness.
In fact overtime it just starts to feel natural like OEM. But it's a huge difference, if you were to go back to OEM you would be like WTF.
Although I do pop out of 2nd gear from time to time. I don't know if that is the revo's fault, or if I'm getting that cable end rusting issue that there is a TSB about. I would take it in, but it's random, I can't make it happen.

Yeah, the Revo is great, especially with aluminium bushings. Like pheaton said, feels firm to start, then your hand adjusts and it feels completely natural. Have had absolutely zero problems.

Yeah, that's it, replaces the whole OEM peice, rather than just an add-on to the OEM that adjusts where the cable links. It is a real quality peice, very solid, almost identical to the OEM in construction technique.

Re: Is it useful and worth it? ... short-shifter
hey green ? are u boosted? and how long have u had this for ? no problems?? im going to order one very soon ... and umm u sure it won't cause any problems for my transmission... my mechanic said that short shifters shift too fast for the liking of the transmission and it could cause problems .. especially that im boosted ... i really wanna know if this is true or not

no, not boosted, had mine for at least a year now, no problems, install was 30 mins, its great, a looooot of people have this, and love it, its great, honestly one of my favorite cheap mods

Had mine for a year (Revo), make sure to attach your cable back good, mine popped out recently and the tranny started making a whine, thought t was the throw out bearing, now i am having to do some tranny rebuild to some of the other bearings and turns out it was the input bearing that went out.
But the product from Revo is great. I needed to pull the tranny and build it anyways

Yeah, the revo should have no impact on grinding, that's like saying changing your shift **** will make you grind.
If anything it should make you less likely to grind as it is far more accurate and less wobbly than the stocker.
