2001 Civic Hx is it Possible?
2001 Civic Hx is it Possible?
ok im new to the world of performance but eager to learn.. here is my question its a beginner question and i dont mean to annoy any of you guys just want to educate myself. I have read through forums but been running into a dead end. my questions:
1) does the ex and hx have the same engine?
2) can i get any power out of my engine?
3) am i starting a mission impossible?
4) approximate price of mods needed to get good hp?
5) turbo possibilities?
thanks
ps again sorry for such a noob question but i just cant keep searching and ending up with disappointments, i just wanna know if this is possible or am i just kidding myself...

Re: 2001 Civic Hx is it Possible?
1) yes it has the same engine both vtec d17's
2) power gains can be achieved out of this engine, but nothing recorded over 310 hp thus far
3)Yes you are
4)Turbo Kit will most likely run you anywhere between 1200-3000 and put you somewhere around 250-260 from what I've mostly seen. Drop a k20 and you can throws gob's of PSI at it and have a nice naturally aspirated engine putting over 200 hp
5) Yes, but don't plan on putting more than around 8-9 psi at max on lower end without blowing it.

Re: 2001 Civic Hx is it Possible?
1. no, d17a2 andd17a6 are not the same
2. power only from turbo, and ive seen as high as 434, proven with dyno sheets
3. no, its just a long mission
4. turbo "kit" from dezod, the only reputible kit out there, will run u 3k, yes a k20 is nice, but expensive, 6k and up
5. yes, turbo from the getgo, read speedfoos's thread, ull learn tons,
6. welcome to the site, both of u

It really doesnt matter which D17 you start with, the path of parts is always the same. You've found the answer.
And the EX and HX heads are the same. No sense swapping it.
All of this has been covered before.
