Question 2001 Honda Civic EX (Automatic)

101,000 miles. Automatic

I havent bought this car yet. A local person is selling it on Craigs List for $5900.00. We are test driving it today & having a mechanic inspect it tomorrow if the test drive goes well

What can I expect at 101,000 miles to replace/repair?

My Chevy Malibu (141,000 mi) just took a crap on me & Im just nervous about buying a car with high mileage - but this Civic looks fantastic & is a good price. And Ive always wanted a HONDA!

Just wonder what your experiences are at the 101,000 mile point!

Way too much for 2k1 with 100k+

If they haven't done the maintenance, you will need
Belt and tensioner change
Antifreeze change
Spark plugs

You also want to check
Oil, air filter, in cabin filters, brake pads/drums, brake fluid, power steering fluid, tranny fluid

Re: 2001 Honda Civic EX (Automatic)

So the guy is asking too much for this car?

Blue book says 6500 - I thought I was getting a deal?

Say I buy the car & the transmission goes out - how much can I expect to pay for automatic transmission plus labor (I know it will vary) but I dont even have a clue what something like that would cost.

i think you should check the "used car vehicle act".
but im from canada so im not sure if your licensing office offers that.. it will tell you its worth a lot lower than $5900usd.

Re: 2001 Honda Civic EX (Automatic)

Well we went to test drive this car. The exterior looked really bad & the interior looked worn. The exterior was all dinged up.

So we are going to pass on this one.

----------------

However - I saw one today for sale.
Silver 2001 Honda Civic 4 door - Automatic (car did not have EX,DX or LX on it) so Im not sure which

93000 miles for $6200 -- Good deal or still not so good?

EX has a moonroof. If it is a 2k1, then LX and DX are practically the same. I would bargain down to $6k if the car is in good condition.

Re: 2001 Honda Civic EX (Automatic)

Check blue book values for private sale. Then look up some 01 civics in used cars ads and on line... You will see what they are selling for,,,,those sales #s will be spot on...First owners are getting those asking prices,,,,,,keep shopping hard and often to save a few $100s ...If the car is clean and kept up and maintained you will pay. Also the EX has V-TECH motor,,,that equals an extra hampster under the hood...
