Angry Oh darn....

So after 3 years of no accidents, and no tickets, I finally got into an accident. Here is the story! My girlfriend was having trouble up in the mountains for the summer because of her job so she decided to come back to town for the day. We decided to go see the harry potter movie, seeing as she wanted to see it. I go to pick her up from work because she couldn't wait to see me. So I go pick her up! On the way towards my house, we are going down the street, and its a bit busy, with people on the side walks and a little traffic. I'm comming to this intersection, where the light is turning yellow! Normally I'd stop, but I saw a pedestrian starting to get off the curb and stepping onto the street. I didn't want to take the chance and have him jump in front of the car, so I stopped. In about 1.5 seconds of stopping, I feel the force of the car from behind hitting me and shoved me forward. Luckily the person didn't jump in the street or I would have nailed him.

Luckily me and my girlfriend are ok, a little whip lash and a slight headache. I'm suprised the civic held up pretty great, seen as the guy rear ended me, and all I got was a scratched(maybe even a dent). When I walked up to the guy for his information, he had the nerve to tell me "hey man, you were supposed to take that yellow". Seriously, I just scoffed at it.

My question is, how many times can a bumper get hit in accidents before you should replace them. Even though the bumper looks ok, I know the foam inside might be damaged.

Also, if I get rear ended is it the guys automatic fault?

Well, let's see what happens with the insurance.

Re: Oh darn....

Man, that sucks but you should be good to go as far as insurance is concerned. IDK how it is in other parts of America, but here in Tx it's damn near automatic at fault if you rear end someone.

As for the civics holding up in wrecks thing, you have no idea.. I t-boned a lady that pulled out in front of me and I was going about 40-45 mph with no time to stop. Her Grand Marquis was damn near folded in half, while my civic looked like I had accidentally drove through some bushes. I have some pics somewhere of my car, I wish I would've picked some up of her car.. it was bad. I felt absolutely horrible that I had done such damage to her car.
The cop that showed up was an absolute ******** to me too.. he tried to act like it was my fault even though he wrote her a ticket for failure to yield. He even got her home phone number and tried to help her prove it was my fault.. damn rookie *******.
